Back in the day, Great Grandma Skufca took an exotic trip to India
where she discovered the beautiful taste of chai tea and decided to
blend that taste into her amazing pickle recipe. Okay, okay, that’s not exactly how it went down. Grandma never made it to India. Chai is, however, a delicious combination of cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and other spices that was traditionally brewed and used
to treat colds, flu, digestive issues and other health problems. But what intrigued us is that it is known as “grandmother’s chai”, as the grandmother was the traditional caretaker of the family in India and would brew these spices for her family. Then guess what? The recipes would be handed down through the generations for hundreds of years. Sound familiar? So we at Tru thought it would be an interesting idea to
pay homage to the Indian grandma by using chai spices in an offshoot
of Great Grandma Skufca’s Bread & Butter pickles. The result is our out-of-this-world delicious Chai Pickle – still using the Old World natural process that Tru Pickles has become known for, these pickles use only natural ingredients, no preservatives or
additives, are always crisp and tasty. Grandmas all over the world sure do know best!
